👤 About Shaykh Idris Watts

Shaykh Idris Watts accepted Islam in 1998 while studying Arabic at the University of Leeds, graduating with First-Class Honours and an Award of Excellence. He then spent seven years in Fez, Morocco, studying at al-Qarawiyyīn University, immersing himself in Arabic, Qur’anic studies, and traditional Islamic learning.

He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from Leeds Beckett University, alongside qualifications in Somatic Experiencing and Islamic Psychology, blending classical scholarship with therapeutic insight to help Muslims nurture mindful, balanced lives.

We were also excited to have Akeel Jeraal with us who himself who gave an introduction to his translation of the work by Shaykh ʿAbd-Allāh Sirāj al-Dīn al-Ḥusaynī (d. 2002 CE).

Shaykh ʿAbd-Allāh was an erudite scholar, guide, jurist, and exegete. Born in Aleppo, Syria in 1924 CE, he descended from a distinguished scholarly line tracing back to Imām al-Ḥusayn, the grandson of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

Among the foremost scholars of his era, he specialised in Qurʾānic and Ḥadīth sciences. His legacy lives on through the numerous works he penned, and in the students he nurtured, whom are now guides to many in their own right.

Readers will also benefit from a dedicated treatise by the prolific author, political activist, and Hadith master, Shaykh Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar al-Kattānī [from Morocco, Fez].

Expertly adapted by Shaykh Idris Watts, this section provides a comprehensive framework for visiting the graves of the righteous. It instructs the visitor on the correct etiquettes to observe at every stage, from preparation to departure, to ensure the experience yields the utmost spiritual benefit.

This is also the first time it has been officially published in English.
