Calling to Islam

Active Listening, Human Connection, and the Ethics of Daʿwah

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious the Ever Merciful.

All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all the worlds —
praise that matches His countless blessings
and corresponds to His ever-increasing grace.

O Allah, send Your prayers upon our master Muhammad:
the Prophet of Mercy,
the guide of the community,
the remover of distress and darkness;
and upon his noble family and blessed companions,
and grant them perfect peace.

Daʿwah is not an argument to be won.
It is a trust to be carried.

This lesson explored an Islamic daʿwah model grounded in listening, adab, and human awareness—one that applies not only to those new to Islam, but to every interaction: family, colleagues, Muslims, and non-Muslims alike.

This essay accompanies the full lesson video. Students are encouraged to revisit it alongside the chapter on social manners and reflect on how daʿwah begins long before words are spoken.

Daʿwah (الدعوة) literally means to invite.
In Arabic usage, it can even refer to inviting someone to a meal.

This is not incidental.
